Keys To Marriage

Recently a woman opened up to me about her marriage. After 30+ years of marriage, she was fed up with her husband’s recurring hurtful behaviors, and wanted to get a divorce. A few days later after I talked and prayed with the woman, the video below popped up on my YouTube feed. With this woman’s situation on my mind, I thought I would check out the video. Each member of the panel had something helpful to say, because they were all in different stages of marriage and divorce. I found their comments non-judgmental, encouraging, and insightful and wanted to share it with you.

The main key for Bill and my 35 year marriage is our spiritual connection with God. Joyce and Dave emphasized this key for their marriage as well. Each person on planet earth comes with generational trash, trauma, and triggers. Healing from that baggage and discovering your true self, comes about with the wisdom and gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit. He helps us recognize what we need to change so that we can become empowered with the truth that sets us free.

Maybe there is a third option besides divorce or staying in a miserable marriage. If you’re struggling in your marriage, take the time to wait on the Lord for a third option. Probers 3:5-6 reminds us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

This is good advice for whatever situation you happen to find yourself in today. May you take the time to discover the path God has just for you.
