Family Fun During COVID-19 Quarantine

April 1, which was two days ago, is traditionally known as April Fool’s Day. Unfortunately, what’s been happening in our world is no joke! As I watch the daily Task Force coronavirus press briefings at the White House, I’ve been really impressed how the Trump Administration and leaders from all sectors of the US have come together to war against this unseen enemy. It’s sobering to hear the number of deaths rapidly increasing in hot pockets, mostly urban areas, in the US and around the globe. So, I think we could use some comedic relief in the midst of this virus war. While you’re self-quarantining with your family, enjoy Ross Bennett’s show he titled “In Case You Forgot…Life Is Funny!” in the 21 minute video below.

Speaking of April Fool’s Day and laughing, a few years ago there was a humorous story floating around social media about a judge and an atheist. Here is one of the versions. I don’t know if it is a true story, but it makes a good point.

“In the State of Florida, an atheist created a case against Easter and the Passover Holy days according to a story that was published recently in the Our Lady Of Victory Catholic School bulletin. The church is located on Kirkley Road in Tyrone.

According to the story, the atheist had hired an attorney to enter a discrimination suit against Christians and Jews because of their observances of their holy days. Their argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring "case dismissed.”

The atheist’s lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling saying, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and other religious events. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.”

The judge leaned forward in his chair and said, "But you do. Your client counselor is woefully ignorant.”

The atheist’s lawyer replied, "Your honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists.”

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1 is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, "The fool says in his heart ‘There is no God.’ Thus it is the opinion of this court that if your client says that there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore April 1 is his day. Court is adjourned.”

God bless a judge that know his scripture!” (hhjonline.com)

Psalm 14:1 in the Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) states it very plainly. “Only fools think there is no God. People like that are evil and do terrible things. They never do what is right.” There are many verses in the Bible that warn us about fools (click here). One of my favorites is Proverbs 10:23, “Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.”

In this day in age, may you not be a fool nor be discouraged by a fool’s errand. Rather, may you take pleasure in the wisdom of God and find laughter in your hear that will bring blessing to you and others, In Jesus Name! Go forth bold, blessed, and brilliant! Subscribe and comment below.
