Sabbath
According to the Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, Sabbath is defined as a time of rest. If you’ve browsed my website before, you already know that I love the Creation Sabbath for many reasons. For me, it’s basically a wonderful day of family, fellowship with God and others, worship, celebration, and nature. All of which bring blessing, joy, and fun. The YouTube channel Bible Project depicts the meaning of Sabbath in a short video below. I hope you find it as enlightening and inspirational as I did.
Today, when we find chaos, stress, conflicts, sickness, disease, lack, poverty, depression, and wickedness of every kind surrounding and bombarding us every day, remember the words of Jesus. “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 We need Sabbath rest like never before as the end time prophecies are being fulfilled before our eyes. We need time to refocus, be refreshed, and be spiritually rejuvenated before heading into another week of busyness, distractions, and brokenness.
Of course, Jesus is always with us, but are we always with Him? Are our thoughts and spirits connected to Him? Are we being co-creators, and co-workers with Him throughout the week? It’s easy to get caught up in the things of life and we lose the connection. But, the Sabbath is a wonderful opportunity each week to recompute and reboot. Praise God for this wonderful gift of time He made special at the beginning of earth’s history in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 2:1-3 This gift of time is still available to us each week if we choose to open it.
