The Biblical Money Mindset - Part 1/2
Earlier this year I had a dream about money. However, recently when I was listening to a live streaming interview with Kris Vallotton discussing a completely different topic, he referenced his book Poverty, Riches and Wealth. Because of my dream, the title caught my attention and right away I checked out YouTube to see if there was a video with Kris talking about his book. I didn’t find a video, but I did find the audio recording below. I really enjoyed the recording and right away purchased the book. (Click on the book and it will take you to Amazon where you can read more about it and order it.)
The subtitle of the book is “moving from a life of lack into true kingdom abundance” which I think interests most believers. Many people, and I’ve felt this way at times as well, feel like there’s “never-enough”. Kris shares many personal experiences, and offers suggestions about how to overcome this mindset and experience true kingdom abundance.
On pages 60-62 he illustrates the differences between poverty, riches and wealth mindsets. Some examples are: “Poverty lives for today, but wealth leaves a legacy. Poverty asks, “What are you going to do for me?” Wealth asks, “Who is worthy of my investment?”
More examples are: “Rich people get their identity from the things they own: their houses, cars, yachts, money, etc. Wealthy people’s identity comes from who they are, not what they own. Rich people work for money, while wealthy people’s money works for them.” He lists several more comparisons in Chapter 3 titled “Why All Believers Should Be Wealthy, Not Rich”.
In addition, he writes that “Generosity is the key to prosperity.” He goes in depth about developing a biblical money mindset using many scriptures and sharing dramatic stories of his life. As it turns out, God/Jesus talked a lot about money and this book is very helpful in developing a healthy wealth mindset. After all, Deut. 8:18 says, “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
In closing, here are a couple of “food for thought” questions. How is God establishing His covenant through you? How has He empowered you to get wealth? “The blessing of the Lord establishes wealth, and difficulty does not accompany it.” Proverbs 10:22 I love this awesome promise! In Part 2/2, we’ll learn more about developing a biblical wealth mindset, and how to access the riches of heaven.
May the Lord establish you with a wealth mindset, so that you will be blessed and be a blessing In Jesus Name! Be bold! Be blessed! Be brilliant!
