Happy Valentine's Day!
Even though this holiday has roots in paganism and commercialism, let’s be reminded that giving and receiving love is from God. Does not the greatest commandment say to love God wholeheartedly, and love your neighbor as yourself? Matthew 22:36-40 Besides, it’s fun to show your loved ones that you care about them by doing a little extra something special. But today, I want to focus in on God’s three Valentine’s gifts he gives to us - love, joy, and peace.
Earlier this week, as I was rereading an early vision of the late prophet Ellen G. White, these three words really stuck out to me. The entire vision titled “The End Of The 2300 Days” is found in her book Early Writings (click here to read the vision). Basically, she saw Father God, and Jesus on a throne with church people around the throne. Some of the people were focused on Jesus and others were not. When Father God and Jesus left, the ones paying attention left with them. However, the others stayed and didn’t realize that Satan had slipped in and taken over trying to carry on the work of God. This is what happened.
“I turned to look at the company who were still bowed before the throne; they did not know that Jesus had left it. Satan appeared to be by the throne, trying to carry on the work of God. I saw them look up to the throne, and pray, "Father, give us Thy Spirit." Satan would then breathe upon them an unholy influence; in it there was light and much power, but no sweet love, joy, and peace. Satan's object was to keep them deceived and to draw back and deceive God's children.” EW p. 56
Now that could sound depressing, but as a watchman, my heart rejoiced!! This is another way we can discern what spirit is working behind the scenes. Satan is always trying to deceive with some truth, unholy influence, and power/tyranny. He’s all smoke and mirrors that leaves people with confusion, emptiness, and despair. Only God is the one that gives sweet love, joy, and peace. In addition, he also gives the rest of the fruit of the Spirit!! Galatians 5:22-23 Hallelujah!
This Valentine’s Day, may you feel God’s sweet love, joy, and peace surround you. This is the atmosphere of heaven! May your soul be filled with Holy Spirit’s presence of love, joy, and peace, so that you will be blessed and be a blessing to others as you celebrate love In Jesus Name! Happy Valentine’s Day! Go forth bold, blessed, and brilliant! Thank you for sharing, subscribing, and commenting below.
