Serving Goodness

With all the bad news out there these days, I thought we could all use something positive to think about. The recent YouTube video below shows another great example of Philanthropic Capitalism. With all the talk of Capitalism vs Socialism these days, as I’ve blogged about before (click here), it’s inspiring to see one man’s vision, to help the homeless, creatively come to life in a successful working community that serves goodness.

Since 1998 Alan Graham has felt the call of God on his heart to “love your neighbor” referring to Matthew 22:39. As a result, he is Founder and CEO of Mobile Loaves and Fishes. This ministry provides three services.

One, MLF provides a food truck ministry that serves more than sandwiches. In addition to food, they also deliver clothes, hygiene products, and other life-sustaining items. Two, MLF established in 2005 Community First! Village, a place to call home. It is a 51-acre master planned community that caters to the needs of the homeless in Austin, Tx. Three, MLF designed a program called Community Works. It provides micro-enterprise opportunities for the homeless to earn an income. Their is so much more information on their website mlf.org. Check it out. I know you will be inspired!

The bottom line is this, in a godless, lawless, and disrespectful society, like we’re experiencing these days, we witness destruction and hate. On the other hand, loving God and others, like Alan Graham has demonstrated, we witness construction, creativity, and joy. Is there anything more important?

Answering the religious leaders, “37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40

May you live life loving God and loving others in the way God has called you. When you do, you will be blessed and be a blessing In Jesus Name! Go forth bold, blessed, and brilliant. Subscribe and comment below.
