Spring Is Here!!

With all the negative news bombarding us 24/7 about the Wuhan Virus, and changing our everyday lives dramatically, here’s some good news. Yesterday, March 19, 2020, was the first official day of Spring. Yeah!! My crocus and snowdrops are up in my backyard and I’ve been enjoying their beauty. Daffodils are another of my favorite springtime flowers. Incidentally, they are the key that ties my thoughts all together for this blog - happy spring, daffodils, coronavirus and crowns.

Combining these things together is a bit of a stretch, but hear me out. Did you know that “corona” means crown or wreath in Latin? The description for the Botany definition is “the cup-shaped or trumpet-shaped outgrowth at the center of a daffodil or narcissus flower.” In addition, as you look at the diagram of the coronavirus cross section, you will see why scientist called it “corona”. The structure of the virus looks like a wreath or a crown.

You may be asking what’s the big deal? Well, for the last few months God has been giving me repeatedly the word “rule”. He loves that the Body of Christ is worshiping Him, but He wants us to rule. He wants us to rule over things like viruses, and fight against principalities and powers that are wreaking havoc on our earth. This was His plan from the beginning and continues to be His plan throughout time. Genesis 1:28 says, “Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” In Revelation 1:6 says, “ …and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

So this week, when I heard someone talking about the coronavirus say that corona means crown, it occurred to me that this springtime, while this pandemic sweeps the earth, it’s time for the sons and daughters of God to put on their crowns. It’s time to take authority over this evil virus. We need to stop begging and pleading with God to do for us what He has ALREADY given us the authority to do. We need to repent for being whinny and powerless Christians by learning how, and taking authority over evil. Rise up brothers and sisters. Now is your time to shine. Defeat darkness with the power of your tongue. Tell it to go In Jesus Name! “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21
