Because of the election nightmare happening right now in the United States, many people are feeling frustrated, tired, depressed, and fearful of the future. But, you can shift your thinking and have a mindset of victory and trust in the Lord by meditating on the five powerful verses below. Remember Jesus is still King! He’s not surprised by current events and “He has a plan that is good and not evil” Jer. 29:11. Be patient as He shines light into the evil darkness and destroys it.

Also, stop listening to the lying false prophets of the media. Find encouraging news sources and REJOICE in the Lord Always. Why? Because, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Proverbs 17:22

There are many great verses, but these five have been a great blessing to me and have helped me to stay healthy in body, mind and spirit:

1. “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” Phil 4:4 This means that no matter what is happening in your life, or in the world, find joy in the Lord and His creations! Get out in nature and get creative. Immerse/soak yourself in beauty.

2. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Tim 1:7 If you’re feeling fear, anxiety, stress, depression etc. tell it to go In Jesus Name! Embrace the power of the fruits of the Holy Spirit Gal 5:22, the love of Father God, and the sound mind of Jesus Christ.

3. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 Bad stuff is going to happen in this world, but Jesus said to be of “good cheer”'. Be very happy that He’s got things covered. Listen to hear what He wants you to do now.

4. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. 8 This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” Proverbs 3:5-8 What you think about affects your health. So, keep up on the news, but make sure you’re finding rest/peace for your soul (mind, will, emotions).

5. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 Don’t give the devil power over you by living in fear, anxiety, depression, deep grief etc. Receive the gift of peace of mind and heart that God offers.

Like I said before, there are many more helpful and powerful verses, but I’ll end with this one. “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Phil 4:8-9

You probably have verses that are meaningful to you as well. Marinate and transform your mind by thinking on God’s word, singing praise music (like the video below by Sandi Patty that is a decades old favorite of mine I found encouraging this week), and observing nature’s beauty. Take the time to read the whole chapter these verses come from. I guarantee as you soak up God’s peace, you will be blessed and be a blessing In Jesus Name!
