Prosperity
As I browse various YouTube channels, other video options pop up. Occasionally, I’ll watch documentaries about older film and music celebrities. Initially, I think wow they had such an amazing and prosperous life. They must have really flourished. But by the end of the video, I feel sad for them. They may have had great success in making music or movies, but the rest of their life was not so great. Substance abuse, “living in the fast lane”, broken families, greed, and ignoring God’s ways left many of them with death and destruction in their wake. Personally, I don’t want that. However, I do want to be prosperous. What then is true prosperity?
First, let’s define what it means to prosper. Basically it means to succeed . My favorite synonym for prosper is “thrive”. The celebrities were successful, but did they really thrive? Personally, I’m not interested in being famous, and a vast fortune has it’s own stresses and responsibilities. However, I do want to “thrive”. How does one thrive or truly prosper?
The answer, I believe, is found in 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.“ So, in order to prosper and be in health, my soul needs to prosper or thrive. Ask yourself, “Is my soul - my mind, will, and emotions thriving? Most of us would probably say not as much we would like.
We are constantly being bombarded with negative thoughts and misinformation, that leaves us with confusion, anxiety, and feelings of being overwhelmed. This in turn keeps us in cycles of being sick and broke. One day we have money in the bank, and later circumstances arise and all the money is gone. Or we have been healed only to find out that we’ve lost our healing.
“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! 6 You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! 7 “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you!” Haggai 1:5-7
God is calling us to transform our minds and come into alignment with His word. We must continue to ask God to restore our souls so that we can thrive. He’s the one that gives us the power to get wealth and have health, and there is no sorrow that comes with it. Proverbs 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.”
Many famous and wealthy people get very rich, but much sorrow comes with that fame and fortune. There are many stories on the internet of lottery winners, as well, who’ve lost it all and ended up worse than before they won. Click here for a few of them.
Trust me, I’m on this journey too of restoring my soul. But praise God I’m not where I was, and I’m headed to the “promise land” of thriving and it’s awesome! We’ve got this! Jesus is King! We have the victory! God is in the blessing business and He is waiting to help you restore your soul so you can truly prosper and be in health.
As your soul comes into alignment with The Spirit and The Truth, may you prosper and be in health, and be blessed and to be a blessing In Jesus Name!
