Staying Calm In Political Storms? K-1/4

Unless you have been living under a rock, you have no doubt been affected in some fashion by the current political storm, namely the Judge Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings. For what it’s worth, I echo the multitude of conservative voices in the media that said the Thursday hearing, yesterday, was a complete sham and a disgrace for a society that believes in due process - innocent until proven guilty.

With that in mind, I decided that instead of discussing that whole scene from a spiritual perspective right now, I would rather recommend a soothing song titled “Emmanuel” which means God with us (Matt 1:23). This song is a secular smooth jazz tune performed on a PBS special back in 2009 by trumpeter Chris Botti and violinist Lucia Micarelli. I’ve watched it many times and really love it! Close your eyes and imagine yourself worshiping Father God at the foot of His Throne.

Furthermore, whenever you find yourself in the middle of one of life’s storms, do not forget that God is with you. Ps 23:4 says, “ Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.”

Another great promise I have been praying over this current political storm is Isaiah 54:17. “But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

As you listen, may you feel the calm of God’s love embrace you in the midst of your storm, so that you will be blessed to be a blessing In Jesus Name!
