Mary Did You Know?

Mary had a one-of-a-kind relationship with Jesus. No one before her was, or after her would be, mother to the son of God! As a mother myself, I find that mind blowing. There are so many questions I would ask her, and maybe will be able to someday.

Questions like, did angels instruct her on a regular basis on how to raise Jesus? Or did God instruct her through visions and dreams? Did she discipline him? If so, how? Did he always behave perfectly? What did it feel like to watch him the moment he realized who he was? Were there signs along the way of his miracle working power? We simply don’t know because the bible doesn’t say.

The bible does say, however, that “Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.” Luke 2:52 What ever methods Mary used to raise Jesus, she succeeded. The results were unmistakable. He grew in wisdom, stature, and favor.

In the video below, Mark Lowry, the co-writer of the song “Mary, Did You Know”, asked many questions too. Except the questions he had, he put to song. You probably have heard many versions of this song, however, I think you’ll find this rendition AMAZING!

The vocal talent of this A Cacapella group, Voctave, is off the charts. Their blend, pitch, and dynamics are right on. A good example is found at minute 2:34 where the first soprano, Kate Lott, hits a G6. For those of you that don’t know, that’s four notes above High C, which is a difficult note even for professional opera sopranos.

But in spite of all the talent, I hope you are inspired by the meaning of the song. Below are the lyrics so you can get the full impact of the message.
