Fruits Of The Forrest Pie

The afterglow of the Thanksgiving meal has left me feeling deliciously relaxed. Great food, family, friends, and fun has filled not only my stomach, but also my soul. However, I am surprised by how much I enjoyed that fruits of the forest pie.

Somehow we ended up having five pies. Yes, five pies for nine people! Needless to say we had a lot of leftover pie. I usually just have one or two pies, but one thing led to the next and then we had a pie buffet. I started out with the two pies, apple walnut caramel and fruits of the forest. Then one of my friends, in a passing conversation, said she didn’t care for fruit pies. She preferred anything chocolate. So, I bought a chocolate whipped cheesecake with a chocolate cookie crust. I knew she would like that kind of dessert.

Then while I was doing my final Thanksgiving shopping, my grocery store had pumpkin pies for only $5. Knowing that some specialty pie stores were selling their pies for close to $20, I thought that was a great deal. Then my other friend brought a pecan pie. And that’s how we ended up with five pies.

Surprisingly, however, my favorite turned out to be the fruits of the forest pie. The filling had apples, rhubarb, strawberries, red raspberries and blackberries. I’m not a big fan of rhubarb so I expected not to like the pie that much. But, I wanted to explore this new to us taste experience and thought we’d give it a try. The combination of the sweet and tart flavors, along with the crunchy and juicy textures made for a mouthwatering treat, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

To be honest, all the pies were delectable! No, I didn’t have a slice of each! That would have been too much. But, I did enjoy a bite size portion of each pie that made for a decadent Thanksgiving dessert. I hope you had a wonderful feast as well, celebrating a day of thankfulness for God’s blessings throughout this past year.

As a foodie person, I’m grateful that God created taste buds so we could enjoy eating. This pie experience reminded me of a couple of verses that I love. “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8 “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” Psalm 119:103

During this holiday season, may you taste the sweetness of God’s goodness, so that you will be blessed and be a blessing In Jesus Name! Go forth bold, blessed, and brilliant! Thank you for sharing, subscribing, and commenting below.
