Celebrations!!!
June is a month that seemingly has many celebrations including Flag Day, the first day of summer, and Father’s day. In addition it is one of the most popular months to get married. My late parents would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on June 1. But for this blog, I want to celebrate Father’s Day, which is Sunday the 21st, my 3rd blogiversary today June 19th, and my 34th wedding anniversary, which was June 15th.
It’s important to celebrate because we need joy in our lives while the world is going crazy. I love what Jesus says in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Celebrating was encouraged by Nehemiah after the law had been read and the people were weeping. “Then he [Nehemiah] said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10
So with those verses in mind, let’s first celebrate father’s. After all, none of us would be here without them. I’m very grateful for having had a father who loved the Lord and taught me many biblical truths. I’m also grateful for my husband who has been a loving, faithful, and dedicated father to our two children. If there were more strong and loving fathers today, maybe our society would not be as messed up as it is.
David honored father’s beautifully, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him. Children born to a young man are like arrows in a warrior’s hands. How joyful is the man whose quiver is full of them! He will not be put to shame when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.” Psalm 127:3-5 Thank you to all fathers out there who love the Lord and are working hard to bless your family. We honor and appreciate you this Father’s Day weekend!
Happy 3rd Blogiversary! It’s hard to believe that together we’re celebrating three years of weekly blogging. It’s because of my few but dedicated readers, and my love for sharing truth with others that I keep going. I don’t know how many people from all over the world are being blessed by the truths that I’ve passed along. But from the analytics alone, I know they are out there. I want you to know that I’m praying for you and hope these posts are encouraging you to experience a closer relationship with God. He wants to be all the Fruits of the Spirit to you and through you. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5:22-23 May you continue to be blessed to be a blessing!
Finally, I wanted to celebrate my 34th wedding anniversary with you by sharing a little bit about our Up North get-a-way. We didn’t do anything fancy, but had an enjoyable and relaxing time together. We stayed in a small cottage on Mirror lake in Fife Lake, MI. The refurbished clean and simple cottage set on a wooded lot over looking a beautiful lake, or rather an oversized pond. We enjoyed exploring the region for a possible future cabin site, but most special to me was the time we spent just “Being”.
One of the three days we were away, we took the time to pray together, talk and rest. Of course we do these things at home, but this time we weren’t hurried because we didn’t have any responsibilities and didn’t need to do anything except “Be”. It’s a wonderful feeling - peaceful, calm, and a spiritually bonding experience. I highly recommend you take a special, extended, uninterrupted time with your spouse to just “Be” together with the Lord. “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:19-20 Agreeing and asking the Lord together is powerful and extraordinary.
May you take the time to celebrate the milestones in your life whether small or great. May you appreciate the special people around you that bring love and meaning to your world. And, may you experience and acknowledge the abundance of God’s kingdom so that you will know that you are blessed to be a blessing In Jesus Name! Go forth bold, blessed, and brilliant!
