The Currency of Heaven

We recently finished reading through the book of John for our Home Church time. This book of the bible is loaded with so much truth. However, this time through, one verse stood out to me. “The world’s sin is unbelief in me.” John 16:9 (red letter words) But why is unbelief a sin?

Let me answer that question by giving an example in the natural realm and translating it into the supernatural realm. On earth we use money as a tool to exchange goods and services. If you don’t have money on earth, life becomes very difficult. Yes you can live off the land etc., but having money opens up a world of opportunities, and meaningful experiences.

It’s the same in the supernatural. You can live in the supernatural realm without faith, but it’s really difficult to understand the things of the Spirit. “But the man who isn’t a Christian can’t understand and can’t accept these thoughts from God, which the Holy Spirit teaches us. They sound foolish to him because only those who have the Holy Spirit within them can understand what the Holy Spirit means. Others just can’t take it in.” 1 Cor 2:14 If you can’t accept the thoughts from God, given by the Holy Spirit, then you are lost. And that’s why unbelief is a sin.

One way people live in the supernatural realm without faith is living in fear. Fear is a form of unbelief that tells you God doesn’t really care about you, thus blocking His blessings. Fear is the currency of Satan’s kingdom. It opens the door of opportunity for killing, stealing, and destruction in a multitude of ways - sickness, poverty, lack, loneliness, bitterness, conflicts, etc. John 10:10

Unfortunately, many churches are filled with unbelieving believers. They have more fear of the devil than faith in the Holy Spirit. It’s so sad to see well meaning Christians live desperate and miserable lives due to their lack of knowledge or rejection of knowledge. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you [priests] have rejected knowledge.” Hosea 4:6

On the other hand, faith or belief is the tool or currency of heaven. You still may be fearful, but if your faith is greater than your unbelief, than amazing things happen. You remember the story of the father with the deaf and mute son. What did the father say to Jesus? “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” Mark 9:24 And amazingly the child was healed!!

What thoughts are you thinking about today? Are your thoughts of faith in Jesus greater than your thoughts of fear? Pray the prayer the father did. Listen for the thoughts from God. Meditate on this story. Do what God tells you to do. Then look for amazing things to happen in your life as well. Believe God has an “upgrade” for you.

May faith and belief dominate your thoughts today, so that you CAN be blessed and be a blessing In Jesus Name!
