Sabbath - An Oasis in Time
With all the chaos in the world today, do you feel like you’re drowning in negativity? I felt that way last week! Just in the last few months, we’ve had constant negative reporting on politics, horrific storms, tragic shootings, demonic wildfires, friends dealing with death, divorce, disease, mental health issues, etc. Pain and suffering seems to be everywhere you turn. How do I survive and thrive in such an environment? Check out my tips below.
Survive and thrive tip number one is to spend time with God on His date day - the Creation Sabbath! “And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.” Gen 2:3 While we are working on a daily basis, it can be difficult to find this special Sabbath rest. But, God wants to give us the rest that heals and strengthens our souls. Jesus said in Matt 11:28-30
“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”
Thank God for Sabbath, a brilliant end time blessing that is an oasis in time dedicated to finding rest for your soul!
Survive and thrive tip number two is to focus on positive things. Paul said in Phil 4:8-9,
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”

Survive and thrive tip number three is to pray for and help someone else. Jesus said in Matt 25:40
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’”
There is a great circle of blessing when we pray with, encourage, and help others. Helping others in need blesses everyone. In addition, praying with others releases the peace of heaven, a peace that passes understanding Phil 4:7.
“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
It’s important to stay in touch with what’s happening in the world so you know how to pray intelligently with insight. However, as you live life on this chaotic planet, may you experience that awesome restful and peaceful oasis in time, and be blessed to be a blessings In Jesus Name!
