20 Reasons I Love And Keep The Creation Sabbath
Count the Reasons I Love to Celebrate Sabbath
- It’s God’s date day!
He set this up BEFORE sin as a special time for intimate and passionate relationship! I don’t want to miss out on his lavishing love!
- The Sabbath is a day established in the beginning of earth’s history.
"So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.” Genesis 2:1-3 (NLT)
- The Ten Commandments were written by the finger of God on tablets of stone. “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.” Exodus 20:8-11 (NLT)
- Sabbath observance is a promise to live long and prosperous lives.
“Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your oxen and donkeys and other livestock, and any foreigners living among you. All your male and female servants must rest as you do. Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, but the Lord your God brought you out with his strong hand and powerful arm. That is why the Lord your God has commanded you to rest on the Sabbath day… Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.” Deuteronomy 5:12-15, 33 (NLT)
- We will celebrate Sabbath in the New Earth!
“For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before me,” says the Lord, “So shall your descendants and your name remain. And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord." Isaiah 66:22, 23 (NKJV)
- The Sabbath is a gift, a blessing!
"Then Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made to serve us; we weren’t made to serve the Sabbath. The Son of Man is no lackey to the Sabbath. He’s in charge!” Mark 2:27, 28 (MSG)
- Sabbath is a promise for internal rest.
"For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest… Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:4, 5,11,12 (NKJV)
- All the bible authors kept the 7th day Sabbath including Paul. (Acts 17:2)
- Jesus kept this day before (Luke 4:16), during (Matthew 27, 28), and after death (deductive reasoning based on the other scriptures).
- It makes the most historical and contextual sense compared to other major religions.
Islam keeps Friday because Adam was created on that day, which is true. However, God never said to worship him on Friday in the Bible. Catholics keep Sunday because Constantine and the Catholic Church changed the worship day to Sunday, for their own purposes. “Constantine named himself Bishop of the Catholic Church and enacted the first civil law regarding Sunday observance in A.D. 321.” (sabbathtruth.com) However, God never said to worship him on Sunday in the Bible. Orthodox Jews keep the 7th day Sabbath legalistically without the freedom and blessing of the relationship of Jesus. However, Sabbath was meant to be a blessing not a burden.
- St. Patrick kept the 7th day Sabbath, as well as many other well-known figures throughout history. (sabbathtruth.com)

- Even though I grew up keeping the 7th day Sabbath and had mixed feelings about it,
I fell in love with Sabbath in college. I loved this 24 hour period of time where I didn’t have to think about my homework and projects! Over the decades my love for the Sabbath has only deepened. I believe the Ten Commandments are really super power promises, of which, the Sabbath holds the most powerful blessings! The most powerful blessings because Sabbath is a day to date God throughout eternity and enjoy all the benefits of knowing him!! To know God is life eternal! John 17:3
