Capitalism vs. Socialism
If you watch the news at all, there is a lot of talk lately about Socialism. What is the difference between Capitalism and Socialism anyway? Isn’t the bible based on Socialism? With corrupt governments around the world, what can I do about it?
First, the most important thing you can do is become educated on the effects of both. The short PragerU video below will get you started. In addition, click on the link to check out these pictures of Socialist Venezuela. As the saying goes, a picture’s worth a thousand words. Then, you can share with your friends and family the truth. Finally, vote for political candidates who support biblical values.
The truth is that the bible is based on Philanthropic Capitalism. Eph 4:28 says, “If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.” With Socialism, the government “steals/taxes” from you and gives the money how they want. On the other hand, greedy Capitalists hoard wealth for themselves. This is why I believe in Philanthropic Capitalism like Eph 4:28 states.
Furthermore, this is what Paul taught. “9 We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. 10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” 11 Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business”. 2 Thess 3:9-11
God gives us the power to create wealth, and He adds no sorrow with it according to Prov 10:22. We are blessed when we bless others, because it is more blessed to give than receive, as it says in Acts 20:35. This is why there is great joy in giving others a hand up vs. the government giving a hand out like the picture above. With the ditches of Socialism or greedy Capitalism, we miss out on the blessing of giving.
The beauty of Philanthropic Capitalism is that it keeps the wealthy from getting greedy and gives the needy the opportunity of prosperity. It’s a win, win system. A free market capitalist society provides the framework for this win, win system. God’s way is always the best!
May you use your God given talents to create wealth so that you will be blessed and be a blessing In Jesus Name!
