Save the Date!

"And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made." Genesis 2:2-3

Every Friday night when my family comes together for sundown prayer, we all sigh a relief for the Sabbath hours.  We love Sabbath!  (Read 20 Reasons here.)  In a world of chaos, insanity, tragedy, and unrest, Sabbath is an oasis of time (Fri. sundown to Sat. sundown based on Gen 1) from the madness of the manifestations of Satan's kingdom.

Even though we look forward to Sabbath, and believe strongly that the seventh day Saturday is God's date day, we don't want to condemn others who do not agree.  Romans 14:5 says, "In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable."

To me, this verse means that the Holy Spirit should convince of the Sabbath, not me.  As Joyce Meyer likes to say, we are not to be Holy Ghost Jrs.  I agree!  Being a fifth generation seventh day Sabbatarian, I've heard so many horror stories of condemnation.  Saturday worshipers have condemned Sunday worshipers, and Sunday worshipers have condemned Saturday worshipers.  STOP IT!

Saturday worshipers, stop crucifying Sunday worshipers like the Sabbatarian Pharisees did to Jesus.  And Sunday worshipers, stop calling Saturday worshipers legalistic.  As the scripture above clearly shows, Saturday worship began long before the 10 commandments were written.  In fact, the Seventh day Sabbath was sanctified BEFORE sin entered the earth.  Arguing either way is not productive.

Nonetheless, God wants to spend time with us.  Are you taking the time to go on a date with God?  Are you saying yes to His invitation?  I hope you do! You will find He is the Blessed Rest your heart desires.

May you discover the beauty of the Sabbath rest.  May you be blessed with that rest and enjoy it with others In Jesus Name!
